August 28, 2018

Dear Vega Family

Thank you all so much for making Fiesta 2018 a very special and successful year.

Our shows  were spectacular, both the LVDS and FLAMENCO! Santa Barbara shows.  The talent in our studio is amazing!  I am so proud  of each and every dancer for giving it their “all” and shining in every show. Thank you so much to our backstage crew. I absolutely could not do Fiesta without you: Carol, Lorena, Lonna, Ceci, Adriana and so many others who helped.

And I am so very grateful to my teachers: Sabrina, Jesalyn, Amanda and  Annissa for always being there to teach. They are wonderful teachers,  and I feel so confident when they are teaching, knowing that they give their best. They are all an integral part of LVDS... we would not have the success we have without them.

A HUGE thank you to our wonderful Spirit of Fiesta

2018 Jesalyn McCollum. We are so proud  of you. You excelled in every way, and fulfilled every quality a Spirit should have. We are excited for your future. You will achieve so much!  We will miss you but are so proud  that you are taking your flamenco to a new level!

Thank you to those that completed the survey.  It really helps us know how to make changes  so we can continue to thrive. If you have not filled one out, please do so. There are many changes  I would  like

to put in place this new season. You can help by giving your opinions and suggestions- I welcome them!

And now on to our new season!  Registration Day is Saturday,  September  8 from 10 AM to 2PM. Of course you can always register by mailing the application and registration fee to the studio, or dropping it off in the safe mailbox in front  of the studio by the gate.

We will begin the season with technique classes. Mid- November  I will evaluate each dancer and put them in a class that most suits them and then we will start choreography.

I will be looking at technique, commitment, attendance, work ethic and style. The goal of the evaluation is that each student be challenged, yet not frustrated by being in a class that is far over their level. If you begin classes late, you will miss this very important part of our season. Technique classes for strengthening is vital for evaluation and placement, and you might end up in a class that doesn’t suit you.

We will begin classes on Monday, September  17, and do half month.  The price for September  will be pro-rated to half the cost of a regular month. October will be a full month,  and every month  there- after.

WE WILL HAVE AN AUDITION FOR FLAMENCO SANTA BARBARA DANCE COMPANY ON DECEMBER 1, 2018. EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO BE PART OF THE COMPANY MUST  AUDITION, EVEN THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN IN THE COMPANY BEFORE. THERE WILL BE A PANEL OF THREE JUDGES. I PERSONALLY WILL NOT BE VOTING. I WANT THE OUTCOME TO BE COMPLETELY IMPARTIAL. SO I SUGGEST YOU TAKE AS MANY TECHNIQUE CLASSES AS YOU CAN, SO YOU WILL BE COMPLETELY READY FOR THE AUDITION!

I have attached  the registration form, tuition rates, and preliminary schedule of classes. You will notice the“EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION”. If you register on or before September  8, the registration fee is $20. In order to get this low fee, you must also pay for the pro-rated two weeks of classes in September.  Please look at the tuition rate sheet for fees after the 8th. You will also notice  that I have raised the tuition rates only slightly- $5.00.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email me: vegflamenco@gmail.com. If you want to

register online or by phone, you can email Sonya

McCollum at: sonyamccollum@comcast.net.

I send you my love, and can’t wait to see you and start working again! Besos,

Linda

P.S. Anyone  wishing to participate in the Preliminary Audition for Spirit or Junior Spirit should contact me as soon as possible so we can begin in September.
